Katy’s Story
Home life for Katy was a series of misunderstandings, arguments, moods, anger and bullying. When the opportunity to work in a different location came, she jumped at it with both hands, hopeful of a new life, one that she could build toward, with solid work and dedication.
Sadly, Katy’s new employer wanted more than her solid work ethic and dedication, and when Katy refused his inappropriate advances, he became angry and abusive. Since Katy’s employer also owned the location she lived in, Katy could not go back there, so she ran away.
Not knowing the area or anyone near, having no money, food or shelter, Katy was homeless. Standing in the queue for basic nourishment with tears in her eyes is where Katy met with a CLF volunteer. He listened to her story and was able to assist her in linking up with another organisation that would be able to support her specific needs.
